Apple has officially announced the expansion of its Self Service Repair program to the United Kingdom, enabling customers to fix their own iPhones and MacBooks using genuine Apple parts and tools. The initiative, which originally launched in the United States, is part of the company’s effort to provide users with more control over their device repairs while promoting sustainability.
The service allows users to access detailed repair manuals, purchase or rent authentic Apple tools, and order replacement parts directly from Apple’s online Self Service Repair Store. Currently, the program covers a range of recent iPhone models, including the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and certain MacBooks with Apple silicon.
Apple emphasizes that the program is designed for individuals with experience repairing electronic devices, while recommending that most customers continue to rely on certified technicians for complex repairs. Despite this, the launch is seen as a step forward in the right-to-repair movement, giving consumers more options for device maintenance.
The Self Service Repair program is expected to expand to additional countries and devices in the near future, further solidifying Apple’s commitment to empowering customers and reducing electronic waste.
